Hull City’s star man Tom Huddlestone has said that the club needs to improve its form away from home in order to stay in the Premier league. The newly promoted outfit suffered a defeat against Southampton, who are flying high in the league. Their opponents on the night were promoted themselves only last season, but they have done extremely well after some prudent signings. Huddlestone believes that Hull City should follow the example of Southampton, but first and foremost, they should improve approach to games away from home.
There have been cases where Hull City have been extremely lucky to drop points with the defeat against Tottenham especially a case in point. The team suffered a late controversial penalty and were defeated 1-0 by Spurs. Despite such defeats, they are comfortable on the table right now in the 13th place. However, they are just four points above the relegation zone and it will not take a long time before they get sucked into this relegation dogfight if results do not improve. They have managed just one win in the last five matches, which is starting to worry Huddlestone.
“I think we maybe need to go into games with more of a belief to try and implement our own style on away games. Once we’d gone 3-0 down on Saturday, we started to play more and we were a lot more confident on the ball. We have to look at ourselves individually and collectively and know that we need to be better if we want to pick up points away from home,” said the former Tottenham midfielder, who is an important member of the team.
Southampton managed to beat them 4-1 on the night. Their only victory in the last five matches came against bottom of the table Sunderland at home.
