One theory is that the Illuminati placed a radio transmitting device in a
ball and the balls were switched for the free-kick, and they guided the
ball into the net, and they then offered Beckham all the fame and riches of
the world for his soul, which he accepted. However budget cuts and a 6 year
depression in this country forced Satan to make some cuts and he
couldn’t quite give him everything top notch for his souls so he had to
    scrimp on the wife.

Even if it didnt go in england were still in with a chance of going to the
world cup. it just would have been via the playoffs

Shook the world did it?! Shook England maybe. I appreciate the goal was a
cracker and the last kick of the game but come on. Had it not gone in you
would have gone to the play offs instead and got through there. Instead it
was the Germans who went to the play offs. They went to the finals and got
to the final while England did there usual of losing to the first good side
they played in the last 8. The goal counted for little other than to boost
Beckham to hero status after you all cunted him off in 98.

It was about his seventh attempt at a free kick that day too so he was due
to hit a good one and the foul that led to the goal was a laughable
    decision.

Beats slavering on about 66 though

    I’m a Scotsman so “apparently” i’m meant to hate Beckham…but i don’t. I
think he is a fine player and if he was born just a few hours “up the road”
then he could have been a Scotsman.
I watched this game…and Beckhams goal was quite simply a peach of a goal.

its not that great, its great for him and the english football public, but
the rest of the world doesn’t care that much, i mean, what happened for
england in that world cup? nothing.

Will never forget that goal for as long as I live! Whatever your opinion of
Beckham may be, he was a brilliant footballer. The way he was treated after
the 1998 world cup game against Argentina was appalling! Everyone makes
    mistakes.

Even if Beckham didn’t get sent off and took the last penalty, chances are
he would have spooned it ;)

Doesn’t matter whether you’re from North of the border, or South of the
border – this little island of ours is what unites us, and sets us apart
from the rest of the world. Fair play to the Scots commenting on this vid,
refreshing to see a lack of children giving it the political-bull – big
thumbs up from your English brothers.

“Shook the world”??? the last thing 99% of the nations would want to see is
    a happy England
