Inter Miami manager Phil Neville has made the decision to promote his son to the first team squad at the MLS (Major League Soccer) outfit ahead of the new season which does not start until next year. Neville has made the decision to promote Harvey to the Inter Miami first team squad on the back of crunch talks with co-owner and Ex-Manchester United teammate David Beckham.

David Beckham played a big role in the emergence of Neville as the Inter Miami manager at the start of the year and the team would fall short of a playoff spot at the end of the just concluded regular season. Neville and his Inter Miami players were a long way from seventh spot, which was the minimum requirement for a playoff spot. They finished in a disappointing 11^th spot on the Eastern Conference standings after a poor record of 12 wins, five draws and 17 defeats in 34 games.

After holding talks with David Beckham on the long-term future of the club, Neville has initiated sweeping changes to the playing squad at Inter Miami with ten players released, while three others are in limbo on their status at the club due to the fact that their respective contracts is nearing the end.

David Beckham was said to be unhappy with the performance of the team during the just concluded MLS regular season and that has led to the changes at the club. The release of several players has not affected designated players such as Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi. Also, ex-Premier League footballers such as Kieran Gibbs and Ryan Shawcross have not been affected.

The promotion of Harvey Neville to the Inter Miami first team was revealed by The Sun as he has benefited from the major clear-out carried out by his dad at the club. Until his promotion, Harvey was with Fort Lauderdale, Inter Miami’s sister club.
